Most people who start out running have no idea how long a marathon even is. Mary was one such lady. You should see her now. Not only has she completed Dublin Marathon, but has since completed Limerick Marathon, and I have a funny feeling that wont be her last…..

2 years ago I began Beginners Running Class with ForgettheGym. 18 months later I ran a marathon and all thanks to Mary and ForgettheGym . It has been such a journey for me and I would never ever have dreamt of doing a marathon if it wasnt for the 1st time marathoner workshop provided by ForgettheGym. I never believed I could run a marathon, didnt think it was possible.

The structure of the workshops, the weekly long runs in the Phoenix Park along with a group of people aiming to complete the same goal and the ongoing advice, support, experience and motivation from Mary and all the team at ForgettheGym meant I completed the Dublin marathon in Oct 2012.

For me the structure and on-going endless support provided during the 16 weeks of training was invaluable and meant I was mentally and physically prepared by the time the marathon came along. There were plenty of times during the 16 weeks where injuries niggled and the head was giving up, but Mary was always on hand to offer her opinion, advice and support.

If there is one thing you do in your life and are able to do it, run a marathon, its an amazing experience and one you will never forget. The workshop provided me with all I needed to accomplish this and without it I dont believe I could have started not alone finish my first marathon. Thanks Mary and all at ForgetTheGym.

Keeping motivated when you are injured or feeling running niggles can be difficult. Mary has overcome many setbacks in her running, and its such a pleasure to have her as a regular smiling face at running classes, races and even on our trips away to Beaujolais…
