Hotel Rooms : There are only 2 hotels to book in the town Villefranche Sur Saone that will suit our logistics. Please do NOT book any hotel other than these two.

Best Western Plaisance
Mercure Villefranche en Beaujolais

No room in the hotels? I have a few extra rooms booked. Contact me if you want a space in these before you book flights/race.

Flights : We all travel on the Aer Lingus flights together.

  • Dublin to Lyon, Flight EI 552 on Friday 17th Nov
  • Lyon to Dublin, Flight EI553 on Sunday 19th Nov

Race : I recommend the half marathon. There are plenty of breaks along the way for food/drink, so don’t feel like you need to be able to run a half marathon in one go. Remember its 6 months away. If you are at 10k by now, you have time to build up to half marathon. If you are a 5k runner, consider if this is the right year for you to go. Maybe next year may be better. There is a 12k also which some people do but the main tourist sites and the time to experience the event is in the half marathon. Book your race entry as it will sell out soon.

Tips when booking race entry : There is option on website to view in English. Then when booking, you only need the basics, don’t buy any of the extra packages. So your cost should be €39 for the half or €26 for the 12k with and extra 1.95 for processing fees. We will have out our entertainment so no need to book into any night time activities or pasta parties. When choosing Tshirt, remember they are french sizes… very few of us would fit into a small!

Medical Certificate : We all need these to be able to run in France. Don’t worry about it for now, Ill let you all know closer to the race time.

Weekend Transport : We will organise buses to/from the airport to make it a lot handier than changing trains etc. Make sure I know you are coming so I can keep a place for you on the bus.

Limited Spaces : Due to numbers for bus and also number of hotel rooms in town, the number of our group is limited to 55. It may sound like a lot but we sell out very quickly! (by end of June I expect this year).

Tshirts : We all wear matching Tshirts and accessorise with some ‘Irish’ bling. We will organise this closer to the time.

Plan for the weekend : We will send out details of our weekend agenda closer to the time. Normally we organise buses from airport, green Tshirts, dinner Friday night, race number pickup as a group, Race day meetups and post run celebration and then Sunday morning lazing about the town before our bus back to airport. Once everyone is registered we will organise all this.

Who can come : This is only open at the moment to existing running chicks and chick magnets. If we have room for other friends/family, we will decide in a few weeks.

Approximate costs :

These are a vague idea of what it costs. A lot will depend on how soon you get your hotel room and what number we have travelling for the bus transfer and any special Aer Lingus deal you might get!

Hotel : €120 (per person for twin room)

Flight : €200

Race Entry : €42

Bus Transfer and ‘Will run for wine’ Tshirt : €60

Any questions at all , send an email.
