September for many can mean back to routine after a long summer of holidays. It also draws us ever closer to those darker evenings when it is so hard to peel yourself off the couch and go for a run. What better way to stay motivated this month than to sign up for an event. Here are our favourite picks for the month.
Portmarnock Road to Beach 10k
If you are looking to get your Thursday evening running fix back then look no further than the Portmarnock Athletic Club Road to beach 10k. With plenty of practice running on the beach in Sandymount we are sure to be pros on this one. Starting at the GAA club and running down to the beach with the finish line on the beach, it’s a great opportunity for a post run dip in the sea. Shuttle buses bring runners back up to the club for the post run feast.
The Lakes 10k
Taking us outside of Dublin down as far as Blessington this race is very well organised and we have fond memories of the finish line muffins (** this is not a guarantee). The entry is restricted to only 600 runners so a nice small run with no congestion. Running around the lake the scenic route has a potential for a great time. Its not totally flat but no long tough hills to climb either. And a lovely spread afterwards. Entries here.
Dublin Half Marathon
For many their Race series journey will end here with the Half Marathon. Thankfully they have introduced a medal to this event so you can add to your bling collection. A great day out in the park and we always see so many of our running chicks and magnets out taking on their first Half Marathon. A well organised event sure to draw the crowds every year. Not for the fainthearted as the back end of the race takes in the hills of the park.
We also have lots of our own events this month : ForgetTheGym Events.
