Beginners - Get Running

Well, it’s time to stop putting it off any longer. We are here to help. Don’t start a couch-to-5k app AGAIN and give up after a few weeks. Instead, come join us virtually as a group and be guided and supported all the way towards 5k.
Our Get Running virtual programme will have you running for 30 minutes non-stop in 7 weeks wherever you might live! This programme has been designed to be followed virtually and will be led by Mary.

Really want to get running before then? While we don’t have a beginners programme running through summer 2021, we have lots of resources to help you. Mary’s Get Running book as all the training plans and tips you need. Also Mary has developed an 8 week beginners video based training programme with The Irish Times which is free and you can start any time. Drop an email if you need any advice.

Is it for me?This programme is suitable for complete beginners or those returning to running post injury, post natal, or indeed after just a long break! If you can run about 15 minutes or more, you would be better joining our Stay Running programme.
COVID CompliantDue to COVID this programme will be virtual BUT this is not just an online programme. This is different. It is personal, supportive and the product of 12 years of coaching beginners how to run. You will be guided day by day with live videos, support and a helping hand when motivation dips! There will also be a nice few surprises along the way with guest appearances from our other coaches with tips, classes and ideas to help you enjoy running more.
How it worksOver 7 weeks Mary will introduce you to running, build your confidence, strength, endurance and enjoyment of running. Covering good technique, breathing tips, clothing questions and all the practicalities you will be guided week by week from 1 minute running on Day 1 right up to 30 minutes running non stop.
Have funAs per all our coaching, there is no competition between our runners. We are all there to support each other and encourage others in their running goal. We all have different challenges and responsibilities these days, and it's great to have others on our side. There is enough stress and anxiety out there, we want to make running something that will take your mind off your worries and help you get some headspace.
NOTE - You need to be on Facebook to get the most from this programme as all the live chats and general daily tips will be posted there. There will be weekly emails also, but the Facebook component is really essential for community, motivation and inspiration! You also can watch back all events that you cannot make live.
