Flights : We all travel on the Aer Lingus flights together.

  • Dublin to Lyon, Flight EI 552 on Friday 18th Nov
  • Lyon to Dublin, Flight EI553 on Sunday 20th Nov

Hotel Rooms : There are only 2 hotels to book in the town Villefranche Sur Saone that will suit our logistics. Please do NOT book any hotel other than these two.

Best Western Plaisance
Mercure Villefranche en Beaujolais

No room in the hotels? I have a few extra rooms booked. Contact me if you want a space in these before you book flights/race.

Race : I recommend the half marathon. There are plenty of breaks along the way for food/drink, so don’t feel like you need to be able to run a half marathon in one go. Remember its AGES away. If you are at 10k by now, you have time to build up to half marathon. If you are a 5k runner, consider if this is the right year for you. There is a 13k also which some people do but the main tourist sites and the time to experience the event is in the half marathon.

Tips when booking race entry : There is option on website to view in English. Then when booking, you only need the basics, don’t buy any of the extra packages. Just the basic race entry. We will have our own entertainment so don’t book into any night time activities or pasta parties. Basically you are choosing ‘No’ to all extras. We will be going to the race expo to get our numbers, so no need to get them posted out.

Medical Certificate : We all need these to be able to run in France. Don’t worry about it for now, Ill let you all know closer to the race time. Book your race entry .

Weekend Transport : We will organise transfers to/from the airport to make it a lot handier than changing trains and spending the day travelling. It is quite a distance from the airport. We will also have a stop off to collect out race numbers at the expo.

Limited Spaces : Due to numbers for bus and also number of hotel rooms in town, the number of our group is limited to 60. It may sound like a lot but we sell out very quickly! (Note May 22 : we are sold out now)

Tshirts : We all wear matching Tshirts and accessorise with some ‘Irish’ bling. Some of you have them already, but if not, you can order them from me.

Plan for the weekend : We will send out details of our weekend agenda closer to the time. Normally we organise transfer from airport (stopping off to pick up race number for 1 hour), green Tshirts, dinner Friday night, race day meetups and post run celebration and then Sunday morning lazing about the town before our transfer back to airport. Once everyone is registered we will send an agenda.

Who can come : This is only open to those of you who run with ForgetTheGym. If we have room for other friends or family, we can let you know once we get an idea of number of spaces remaining.

Approximate costs :

Here is an approximate idea of what it costs for the weekend. A lot will depend on how soon you get your hotel room and what number we have travelling for the bus transfer and any special Aer Lingus deal you might get!

Hotel : approx €160 (per person for twin room) or €230 for private room for the 2 nights.

Flight : approx €150-€200

Race Entry : €41.50

Airport and Race Expo Transfers: €65

‘Will run for wine’ Tshirt : €20

Any questions at all , send an email.

And I’m pretty sure you don’t want to miss out on the fun.
