Here is what our runners has to say about their 2020 winter as they joined us virtually…
When so much of the runs are done alone these days, nothing helps more than the guidance support and team forget the gym pals helping to hold myself to account and get out for a run – I’ve been delighted to get out running 3 times a week over the lockdown with my virtual coaching guiding me every step of the way!’ Grainne
I’m finishing 2020 fitter and more toned than I started it. That’s all thanks to FTG, whose virtual classes encourage with kindness and camaraderie, rather than competitiveness. Sue
Virtual coaching with Forget the Gym has everything: fun, friendliness, and support to get you running no matter what your level. I’ve really loved the variety in the programme and the chance to either join a session live or catch up in your own time. Absolutely wonderful and a fabulous opportunity to keep healthy in these challenging times. Thanks Mary and co! Janet
When not a lot in the world makes sense anymore I thought the one thing I’d try to have some control over was my physical well being. The virtual coaching programme from FTG has provided that and more. I’m so delighted I signed up it it’s an all encompassing program and the beauty of it is if you can’t catch it live you can tailor it to suit your week. Annette
Over this crazy year of 2020, running has been the one consistent thing in my life and has kept me sane. Mary and Forget the Gym, both virtually and in real life, have been there to give me structure and support, no matter what distance I ran! The virtual coaching keeps the group active and connected over the winter, and I highly recommend it! Julie
Virtual coaching with Forget the Gym has changed my perspective on running. The daily and weekly challenges have kept me motivated and made running fun. Thanks for helping me to surpass my running goals for 2020! Aifric
Virtual coaching with Forget the Gym has helped me stay motivated and given my running a structure in a year that has been otherwise upended. The virtual coaching is more than just a weekly training plan, it has fostered a real sense of community, kindness and connectedness, even when we can’t run together. Susan
Never thought 7 weeks ago I’d be running 3 times a week.. such a welcoming & encouraging group of people. Cant wait for next term. Mairead
The virtual coaching with Forget the Gym kept me motivated to exercise. Whether you fancy a run, strengthening muscles, or relaxing yoga, there is something in there for everybody. And on top of this, you get the most amazing coaches and the best, kindest, and most supportive community . Serena
Started the term hoping for a routine & some me time. Ended off running 10km with support from a great group of girls I’ve yet to meet in real life but have encouraged me every step of the way. Thanks to the FTG crew and all the members for a great 7 weeks. It’s so much more than a running club! Jennie
The virtual coaching program from Forget the Gym means I am finishing the year fitter than I started. The variety and daily elements have kept me engaged and motivated. It has been the highlight of 2020 and something to look forward to in 2021. Denise
In times when things can change so quickly by the day, Forget the Gym has provided me with some consistency and with the same encouragement and support as always, whether virtual or in person. Lorraine
I’d really been struggling to keep myself motivated – and organised! – with my running after running to running earlier this year through Mary’s beginner program. Signing up for the winter coaching program was just what I needed! Mary’s weekly training plans are simple, actionable, and encouraging, and she’s assembled a brilliant team of partners for cross-training classes and nutrition advice. And the cherry on top: an incredibly supportive and welcoming community of runners in our Facebook group, who celebrate wins and keep us all going on our tougher days. I can’t recommend this coaching plan highly enough and am looking forward to getting stuck into the next block in January! Catherine
Forget the gym embraces you as part of their team where everyone is like family. I signed up to winter program and it has facilitated my journey in exercise n fitness through support, encouragement and comradeship. It offers a wide variety of exercises / advice to choose from depending on your schedule and busy lifestyle. I for one have found it life changing. Carmel
Forget the Gym winter coaching, has been fantastic. The on line support was amazing, you couldn’t ask for a better bunch of girls and both Mary and Aoife are always on hand with advice , support and of course the variety of brilliant classes online. Alison
Forget the Gym winter virtual coaching has kept me moving this winter. Running support, lunch time Zoom fitness classes, yoga to unwind and healthy tasty food tips are all provided. The support from the group is amazing, I’ll definitely be back for the next term! Alice
What makes FTG virtual programme special is the warm, encouraging community that makes it unique to any other virtual programme. The coaches and people in the programme have been the motivating factor that have kept me running through lockdown this year . Aoife’s live strength classes are great for accountability as you tune into familiar faces. Mary’s weekly plan and live video chats, Linda’s yoga for relaxing and Dee’s food videos are there to dip in and out of as and when suits you. Then when you’re missing company on solo runs and lockdown lifts, Mary provides a very safe outdoor environment with limited numbers in the form of a pop up run -all great value for money too! Nicola
Virtual coaching with Forget the Gym has been a revelation! I have been struggling to be consistent with my running over the last couple of years. I had great intentions at the start of every week but somehow it just didn’t translate into the running I wanted. With the virtual coaching I look forward to each Sunday email with the weekly plan. I’m planning and prioritising my runs and the workouts with Aoife have definitely improved my strength and endurance. Also love the chat and support on the Facebook group. Thanks Mary and team – looking forward to next term! Aoife
In this mad crazy year keeping sane meant “controlling the controllables” . ForgetTheGym’s virtual coaching made this possible & helped me to commit during months where it would have been too easy to let fitness disappear as a priority. The weekly plan gave focus and Aoife’s online beachfit class ( which I was never able to do in Sandymount) was just brilliant to do any time during the week . Dee & Mary’s segments during the week were great for motivation & I love Linda’s yoga Lots of chats every day on the FB group too. Definitely joining again in Jan. Thanks Mary Aoife Linda & Dee. Annamay
Virtual coaching with Forget the Gym has been so much fun this year – great hints and tips, ongoing encouragement and the camaraderie of a group of fellow runners many of whom I have never met have made this my best running year in a long time. I love that there is no pressure to achieve a certain distance or time, and you are made feel good about your achievements, however small they may be – very motivational! 3 virtual running terms done and already looking forward to the next one. Jutta
ForgetTheGym Virtual Coaching gave me the motivation I needed to keep getting up and out walking and running. The weekly running, daily tips and classes were challenging and achievable. Mary, Aoife, Linda and Dee really care how everyone is doing and were on hand throughout to answer questions and provide support. Trisha
Whether you run or walk or go for a stroll, This plan has it all for mind, body and soul. Una
ForgetTheGym virtual coaching offers fantastic variety, flexibility, structure and support. I’ve definitely kept moving and got out more as a result. The team are so knowledgable, warm and encouraging and there’s great community online. Would highly recommend and ready to sign up again. Rose
I can highly recommend virtual coaching with Mary and the team. Not only are you getting all the running coaching, the workouts, nutrition and yoga, you gets so much more. It is so much fun, there is no competitiveness among the members just an amazing interactive online community that all support each other weather your trying to do your first 5k or run a marathon. I also love the fact that I can pick which class I am interested in and do it either live or at a time that suits me. This is money well spent both for your physical and mental health and so much fun. Jill
This was the first time I ever tried a virtual running coaching course and I have to say I would definitely recommend it to everyone. The training plans, weekly emails, classes and chats were brilliant. The challenges are all fun and it gives you a new insight to running whether you are starting a couch to 5k or going for a marathon. All the coaches involved always kept us focused encouraged and all the girls encouraged and cheered each other on with their posts and photos. Fiona
Thanks so much Mary & team for giving us a non competitive, encouraging space to feel comfortable enough to post all our achievements big or small. Thanks for the support & guidance. Never thought I’d be feeling this good into December & New Year. Looking forward to next term Mairead
Mary, to the lady who saved lockdown – thank you ! Nickie

The view from our coaches : Let’s be honest, we weren’t sure how it would work out as well either. Read the coaches story.
Find out more about our virtual coaching. We will return in early 2021 with a Jan/Feb programme to see you all through the rest of this very long winter.
